FUNCTIONAL MORPHOLOGY (greek, morphe image, form + logos doctrine) - the doctrine of the structures of the body, considering them in unity with the function they perform. The functional-morphological approach to the study of the regularities of the organism's activity, based on the principle of the unity of structure and function, is widely used in biology and medicine. Functional morphology data, obtained, for example, in the study of biopsy material, play an important role in the clinical and anatomical assessment of the dynamics of the development of the pathological process, elucidating the effectiveness of treatment methods.

Main activities:

  • histological studies (liver, lungs, heart, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, retina, cerebral hemispheres);
  • search for biologically active substances simulating the processes of healing of burn and mechanical wounds, engraftment of skin grafts.
