eLibrary profile

Currently, the number of dependent people is increasing all over the world, including in our country. According to the World Health Organization, at the beginning of the 21st century, the abuse of alcohol, drugs and other mind-altering substances has become epidemic. Addictive behavior (from the English addiction - addiction, vicious inclination) is one of the forms of deviant, deviant behavior with the formation of a desire to escape from reality. The presence of addictive behavior indicates a disturbed adaptation to the changed conditions of the micro- and macroenvironment. Traditionally, addictive behavior includes: alcoholism, drug addiction, substance abuse, smoking - chemical addiction, and non-chemical addiction - computer addiction, gambling, love addictions, sexual addictions, workaholism, food addictions (overeating, starvation).
The problem of alcoholism continues to be one of the most socially significant and relevant. This negative phenomenon causes enormous material and moral damage both to society as a whole and to individual citizens. In terms of the scale of their distribution, the magnitude of economic and moral losses, they represent the most serious threat to demographic security, the stability of the development of the state, and the well-being of the nation.

Main activities

  • Development of Means for Metabolic Correction of Consequences of Chronic Alcohol Intoxication
  • Development of methods for diagnosing chronic alcohol intoxication using biochemical markers
  • Screening of substances of natural origin as promising agents for the treatment of metabolic disorders
  • Studies on animal cell cultures (isolation, cultivation, directed differentiation of stem cells, systematic assessment of the biological properties of medicinal substances)
  • Studies on animal cell cultures (isolation, cultivation, directed differentiation of stem cells, systematic assessment of the biological properties of medicinal substances)
